The most common feedback we get from people who are looking to start using HeadLang to learn with the news are:

These articles are great, but I’d really like to be reading more of X
I love the idea of using news articles to learn, but I don’t have time to read a full article
The vocabulary and grammar is too challenging for me at this stage of my language-learning journey

All very valid points, and exactly why we recently launched a paid HeadLang Subscription. Here’s how it works…

I want to read more articles about X, Y, and Z

Learning a language via the news is powerful because you get to learn a new language while reading about the topics and issues you care about. The news is a great way to get insights into the society and cultures you are learning about, while also picking up useful vocabulary. With MyNewsstand you can do exactly that. Find an article you’re interested in, add it to HeadLang, and then make use of our other features to make it accessible. Articles that you add to My Newsstand are a great way to keep track of wider reading that will help you revise key vocabulary and themes.

I don’t have time to read a full article

You do now! Once you’ve found an article you like either in the HeadLang Newsstand or once you have added one to your My Newsstand, you will be able to generate a summary in a couple of clicks. These summaries are a great way to get a shorter text to work with, while still getting the benefits of using the news to learn.

The language in news articles is too difficult for me

Depending on the news topics you’re interested in, the language used in articles can get technical or complicated, fast. We really believe that interest in a topic results in a more fun language learning experience, so we’ve built a tool that lets you change the difficulty level of the articles you’ve uploaded.

This means you can find or import an article, change the level, learn from it, and go back to the original when you’re ready with a new understanding (and hopefully some new vocab under your belt).

With a HeadLang subscription, you have the power to make language learning with the news fit your needs and time constraints.
